Seagate

1. Elias Seagate - Current Pater Familias (he/him)

Loyal, traditional, dutiful, grieving

Gary was Elias’ twin. His death left a big hole in Elias’ heart and in the family. Since Gary doesn’t have a male heir, the role of Pater Familias came to rest on Elias’ shoulders. Elias was always happy as Gary’s second and has always thought that Gary was the better leader of the both of them. But grief, trauma and doubt are not something you talk about in this family. Instead you do what needs to be done and you make your family proud. Elias, although respected by his family, is not as charismatic a leader as Gary was. He does know everything there is to know about the traditions and the businesses of the family, though.,. Tradition has always been important for Elias but since the passing of his twin, it has become even more so. He feels like with every tradition he enforces, he honours Gary and his legacy. It’s more or less expected that Elias will be the new Don of the united families. Elias is trying his best not to crumble under that pressure and secretly wishes someone else could take his place. 

2. Stella Seagate-Modena - the Widow (she/her)

Ambitious, charismatic, strategic

From an early age, Stella knew she would rise to do great things. Maybe not legal things, but great things nevertheless. She grew up in a poor household: her father left when she was little and her mother was a drunk. So she learned to make her own way and take care of herself. Stella knows exactly what she needs to become, who others want her to be. And uses it to her full advantage. If you don’t take care of yourself, no one will. Stella met Gary when they were both in high school and she saw in him an opportunity to leave her pitiful mother. Being a traditionalist, Gary always took good care of her, as long as she didn’t speak up too much. But Stella didn’t need to speak up to influence him behind closed doors. Now, Gary is gone though, and even though the family’s honour means they will take care of her, it’s not like before. She isn’t a Seagate by birth, so right now she is nothing. And that irks her. To make matters worse: unfortunately, instead of a son, she was cursed with three daughters. She really wants to use this meeting to regain some influence in the family. 

(She could, for instance, try to do that by securing a marriage with Elias)

3. Isabella Seagate-Johnson - First Daughter (she/her)

Frivolous, stylish, charming

Isabella is the eldest daughter of Gary and Stella. She knew her job in the family was to marry and to marry well. She was very aware of this and never had a problem with it. So she married a banker and she’s been pretty much free to do whatever she wants since then. She enjoys the freedom she has now gained and has no interest in the family business. Instead, she decided to be a fashion designer and she owns a small boutique. Business isn’t exactly booming, but so long as the family can launder some money through it, nobody cares. Some see her as a vapid airhead, but she does have an eye for fashion and her designs are actually good. She is hoping she could maybe use this meeting to network and/or get some recognition for her designs. Maybe some clients for personal styling? She has been asked to do a big fashion show in a couple of months, which could be the breakthrough she has been waiting for for so long. However, her family has recently asked her to take on an important task, which might jeopardize this opportunity… Will she choose her family, like she’s supposed to, or the career she is just starting to build?

4. Rupert Johnson - The Banker (he/him)

Practical, dependable, driven

Rupert is married to Isabella, the eldest daughter of Gary and Stella. His dream was always to have a beautiful wife, two kids, a nice summer home and a lot of money in the bank. Although he was born into money, he is still a hard worker and making more money from money is like a sport to him. He handles a lot of the finances of the Seagate family, even though he is ‘just an inlaw’. It does bother him sometimes, that he’s like a lower class citizen in the family, even if he’s made himself indispensable in the family’s finances. Rupert has been thinking about speaking up about that for some time now, demand respect. However, a recent investment turned out terribly and lost the family an obscene amount of money… He hasn’t told anybody this yet. While he’s usually very dependable, if anybody found out what happened that would make him vulnerable to blackmail. Rupert hopes he can use this meeting to find a new financial opportunity, make up for what he’s lost and prove himself worthy of respect. 

5. Lucrezia ‘Lucy’ Seagate-Milito- The Second Daughter (she/her)

People pleaser, pushover, gentle soul

Lucrezia is the family darling. She’s a doe-eyed singer, who, due to her temperament has been sheltered as much as possible from the family business. As a singer, she is moderately successful. Lucrezia is married to Valerio, who is also her manager. This was a decision she hasn’t had much say in, although she doesn’t seem to question it. While she does seem to love him, she doesn’t seem very happy in their marriage and she often has unexplained bruises and injuries. Lucrezia is best friends with the bride-to-be and has been asked to be her witness. 

6. Valerio Milito - The Enforcer (he/him)

Unscrupulous, brutal, loyal

Valerio is the one the family uses to send a message. He’s quick to anger. Valerio is married to Lucrezia and is also her manager. He’s controlling towards her, but he says that is for her own good. Although no one has actually seen him being violent towards Lucrezia, she often has unexplained bruises and injuries. This character has had a homosexual relationship in the past that might come back to haunt him.

7. Carmen Seagate - The Youngest Daughter, The Doctor (she/her)

Ruthless, smart, ambitious

Carmen has often wished she were born a man, so she could run the family and get the respect she deserves. Luckily she has a good head on her shoulders and with her family’s money she has studied medicine. Under her late father she got more responsibilities than a woman normally would get in the family, with the ‘excuse’ being her role as the family doctor. But now that the Seagates have turned even more toward tradition, those responsibilities are slowly diminishing. Being the family doctor, however, means she still has a foot in the door. Carmen knows exactly who got wounded, when and why, which is valuable information. She will use any weapon in her arsenal to get to the top whether that be blackmail or her scalpel… Carmen knows Sam from their time in medical school and she’s the one who recruited them to work for the family. Carmen and Sam are frighteningly close, even though no one knows exactly what the nature of their relationship is. 

8. Sam Colton - the Artist (either)

Psychopath, creative, obsessive

Sam gathers information for the Seagate family. If needed they paint their canvas with the blood of their enemies. Sam started a medical education, but wasn’t allowed to finish it because they didn’t pass the psychological evaluation. A right shame, for the first time they were allowed to play with knives and nobody looked at them weird. Carmen, however, saw Sam’s talents and offered them a lucrative opportunity in the Seagate family. Sam is a knife nut, torturer and wetwork person when needed and they delight in their work. They see it not as ordinary torture, but artistry. They seem obsessed with Carmen and some say they would do anything for her. They can be charming, but their charm always has an unsettling edge. They are very good at asking questions and obtaining information.

9. Tony Seagate - The Elder (either)

Loyal, nostalgic, unpredictable, fragile
Tony was never very high up in the family nor did they hold a low position for long. Maybe that’s why Tony is one of the few criminals to have reached such an old age. Physically Tony is relatively fit, but mentally the cracks are starting to show. They get confused sometimes and it’s hard to distinguish the past from the present. They are glad to hold on to tradition and proud to be a Seagate. However, sometimes melancholy creeps up and they have this sinking feeling that something very important has been lost. Or will be lost. Tony is not sure… Many of the family members are fond of ol’ Tony, but some might start to see them as a threat. Sharp mindedness is crucial for the individual as well as the family: what if Tony, in one of their confused states, says the wrong thing to the wrong person and brings about the downfall of the family? 

10. Nicky Seagate - The Lawyer (either)

Shy, eloquent, smart, optimistic

Nicky is one of the Seagate cousins. They went to a prestigious law school, paid for by family money. It was very clear that it was expected that they would work for the family after graduation. Nicky doesn’t mind that much. They legitimately enjoy being a lawyer. Besides, they always make sure they never end up on the wrong side of the law themselves. Everyone has a place in life and in a way, isn’t it admirable to be a part of the criminal justice system? Nicky is shy and enjoys writing legal briefs more than presenting them, but make no mistake: they are very capable standing at the front of a courtroom. Nicky does have a moral compass and they know that the Goddaert lawyers do not. In Nicky’s opinion they are a stain on the lawyer profession, which is why Nicky wants to prevent them from having too much power.

11. Danny Seagate - The Stranger (either)

Opportunistic, practical, sybarite

Danny has lived abroad the last couple of years, managing the logistics of that end of the arms supply chain. They are a very distant Seagate cousin, their blood so diluted from the family that it’s a miracle they still carry the name. They got this job mainly due to a combination of knowing where to be at the right time and… nobody else really wanted it. Since they were head of operations there, they lived like a king. Now the supply chains on both ends of the pond are in tatters because of the Interpol raid and Danny has been called home to answer some questions. Their position is currently shaky. Danny is here to make sure they don’t replace them and/or to find new opportunities for personal growth. And by personal growth, they mean growth of their fortune so they can resume living their life in luxury. The fact that the family dynamics have been slowly changing over the years and the family structure has changed dramatically and suddenly since the raid might be a slight obstacle in achieving this goal… 

12. Blake Montero - The Casino Owner/ loan shark (either)

Precise, calculating, impersonal

Blake grew up on the streets where they soon discovered they had a knack for games of chance. They started out with low stakes games of craps but also developed an affinity for the cards. Whatever the name of the game: Blake mastered it quickly and efficiently. With a mind like a steel trap and a big heap of mathematical talent they soon discovered they could make a lot of money in casinos. Unfortunately there was the small matter of casinos not really liking when you cheat them out of their money by counting cards. They banned Blake and since they had no other source of income and no education to speak of this resulted in financial difficulties. Blake often won, but when they lost, they lost big time… And Blake not only had themself to care for, but their sibling Aubrey as well. Luckily for Blake, just when the situation grew really dire, the Seagate family recognised their talent and was looking to expand their gambling endeavors. That is why, instead of cheating casinos, Blake is now running them. This is a relatively recent position: the person formerly running the Seagate gambling establishment was apprehended in the Interpol raid. They do sometimes get the itch to want to play again: the higher the stakes, the better. It’s been a while since they played though: could they still pull it off? And what if they lose? They have almost paid off their debts… And gambling with the Seagate money, also means gambling with the Seagate’s trust…

13. Aubrey Montero - The Nobody (either)

Adrift, low self esteem, anxious

Aubrey is Blake’s sibling. They are convinced that without Blake, they would have died long ago. Blake was always the one with the talent, the ruthlessness, the smarts and always keeping a level head. Aubrey thinks it is high time they bring something to the table: but what? They will need to find a way to prove themselves to the Seagates or solidify this connection somehow. They need to find a way to earn their trust. Aubrey recognizes their siblings' restlessness. It seems like it's only a matter of time until Blake´s next gamble. And they might need a backup plan… Could they discover a talent of themselves that could be useful for the Seagate family? A piece of blackmail? Secure a marriage? Find an Interpol informant and spy on the family in exchange for witness protection and a cosy life, paid for by the state? Anything goes: this time Aubrey has decided it is their turn to protect their sibling, should shit hit the fan.  

14. Sil Dominic - The Chef (either)

Sympathetic, jovial, dreamer

Sil’s family has been quite literally serving the Seagates for a couple of decades, their families intertwined through both finances and marriages. Sil owns a couple of restaurants that have traditionally been home to the Seagates. Sil’s father has been in prison since the Interpol raids on charges of money laundering but through some clever legal loopholes the restaurants could be saved and are now in Sil’s name. The restaurants also still serve as a money laundering operation. However, the promises of the Seagate-Dominic alliance have been made by Gary to Sil’s father. Will Elias renew these promises to Sil? Sil is secretly in love with Lucrezia and hopes to free her from Valerio. Sil is planning on using this meeting to get some dirt on Valerio and to secure his restaurant. 

15. Father Benedict (former name: Charles Seagate) - The Priest (he/him)

Honest, resigned, repressed passion

Once a trusted Seagate consigliere, cousin Charles walked away from a harsh betrayal and became Father Benedict. What is not common knowledge is that he has had a stormy affair with Nathalie in the past. However, something went horribly wrong between them and he hasn’t seen her since. He swore off the family life, finding absolution in the church. 

Now, they need him—his counsel, his political connections, or just as a reminder that morality once mattered. After the raid, he offered solace as the family confessor. He tells himself he’s here to prevent the worst, but every whispered confession pulls him deeper. Here to officiate the wedding—and to offer a way back for those seeking redemption.

16. Emilio - The Bodyguard (he/him)

Stoic, enigmatic, strong

It has been said that he might be a bastard child of someone high in the ranks, but no one knows if that’s true or just a rumor. In fact: little is known about Emilio at all. Few know where he came from, how he joined the ranks of the family and why. Few family members truly feel at ease around him. He is fiercely loyal to the family, which means that if he finds out anyone might be a threat in any way, they will be dealt with accordingly. Even if that threat might come from inside the family. Emilio is here to protect the family, but also to learn the truth about his parents. For some reason unknown to others, he has brought Ruby to this meeting. This character used to have a clear view of the world, but everything is slowly becoming more murky and the sand beneath his feet is shifting. Where will his alliance lay in the end?

17. Nathalie Jewell, better known as ‘Ruby’- The Strip Club Owner (she/her)

Business savvy, opportunistic, charming

Nathalie has walked the traditional career path of starting out as a stripper and then owning her own nightclub. Her mobster clientele absolutely helped with that. Nathalie put some of her own savings into the club, but was also heavily sponsored by the Seagate family. In return the Seagates and their associates make frequent use of both the entertainment and ‘administrative benefits’ of the club. In the past, she has had a stormy affair with Charles Seagate, but something went horribly wrong and she hasn’t seen him since. On the one hand, the Seagates have always been good business partners to her, on the other hand Nathalie worries about the stability of the family and what they can provide her in the future. Being a clever businessperson, she sees a lot of opportunities for modernising and using technology that are being passed up on by the Seagates. At this meeting she wants to see if the Seagates could be swayed towards a bit more modernity or… if the time has come to maybe ally with another party. She is brought to this meeting by Emilio, though nobody knows why. If you play this character we don’t expect you to actually do a strip tease, unless you specifically indicate to us that you’d want this. Do keep in mind that we don’t allow nudity of genital areas.
