Patrick/ Patricia “Pat” Renz - Official head of the family (either)

Pat is the sibling of Tony, parent to Murphy. Pat is the kind of person who will take you out for a drink, pat you on the shoulder and let his lieutenants deal with you if you need dealing with. They were the head of the family, and they were happy with what they had, turning a blind eye to the shadier parts of the business as long as the money kept rolling in. Somehow, for unknown reasons, they turned up on Interpol's radar, and were warned by their Interpol contact. So they ran, went into hiding and bided their time until they could return. They join the meeting this weekend to get back in the business.
Tony Renz - Unofficial head of the family (either)
Ruthless, proud, thorough, innovative
Tony is the Pat’s sibling and bride-to-be Cassandra’s parent, and partner to Navy. Tony was the trusted advisor to their sibling Pat. The last couple of years the siblings didn’t get along anymore since Tony wanted the family to change, to be more, something they could be proud of. Their strategy is high risk, high reward. Tony always had bigger plans than just being their sibling’s right hand. With Pat out of the picture after the Interpol raid, Tony is in control, and in no way wants to let go of what they’ve got. They hope that this meeting will help them solidify their power.
Cassandra Renz - The Bride to be (she/ her)
Feisty, passionate, romantic
Cassandra is the daughter of Tony Renz and best friend of Lucrezia Seagate. She has always been the rebellious daughter that did whatever her parent didn’t want her to do. Tony tried to get her under control and did everything in their power to keep her in line, to no avail. So they created the ultimate punishment and decided to marry her to Mal Goddaert. It seems Tony has finally found the right leverage to make her obey because this time she doesn’t seem to protest that much. Or is something else going on…?
Murphy Renz – Heir to the throne (either)
Loyal, resentful, gallant, generous
Murphy is Pat’s child, cousin of Cassandra. Murphy always did what Pat wanted. They were raised as their parent was raised before them, and they expected to follow in their footsteps. Before the big Interpol raid, because their parent told them the small families needed to stick together, Murphy married the unwilling Francis Hagenbeck to get the Hagenbeck family on the side of the Renz family. And the result of always doing what their parent wanted is that Tony is the ruling head of the family, and that Murphy is married to someone who despises them. Now is the time to set things right, and Murphy will do their best to achieve this.
Billie Hagenbeck - New on the job (either)
Billie was part of their own ragtag bunch, with sibling Hunter as head of their family, and Hunter’s kid Francis as second in command. There never was a tight knit family, but everything that happened left them with next to nothing. Billie never led their small family, their sibling Hunter did and they were prepping their child Francis to take over. When Tony asked Billie to support Tony’s claim to run the Renz family and to create a place for all the people that needed a new home, they saw an opportunity and agreed to support them on the condition that they would be their right hand and replacement if something would happen to them. Tony agreed. This gave them enough power to automatically be head of the leftovers of their family. Hunter was arrested in the Interpol raid. So now is the time to create new ties, be the obvious next in line to take over the Renz family. But they have no idea how to achieve that.
Francis Hagenbeck - Resentful head of nothing (either)
Crude, desperate, perceptive, focused
Francis is Hunter’s kid and Billie’s niece/ nephew. Before the Interpol raids, Francis was talked into marrying Murphy Renz by their family. They relented to the pressure, knowing that this would mean a lot to their family and would provide them with security since they were too small on their own. It didn’t protect them against anything, the rest of their family were either killed in battle or arrested by Interpol. So now they are married to someone for reasons that no longer matter and part of no family to speak of. Billie used everything that happened to advance and move up the hierarchy, and left Francis with no options. Francis joined this weekend as a distraction, to just be somewhere and find some happiness, to feel something… Anything.
Seven Breschard - Interpol alliance (either)
Deceitful, humorous, moral
Seven never wanted this life. And they almost escaped since they were not that important for their family’s existence, so they had the freedom to choose another life and decided to go to university. Then their family was hit by one of the other families and suddenly they were being prepped by their parent to follow them as their underling, being forced to quit university. So Seven decided that the only way out was to make sure that there was no family left and betrayed their own family to Interpol. It worked marvelously as the rest of their family was arrested during the Interpol raid, they are now the only one left. Except Interpol obviously doesn’t want to let go of their information source so they need to stick to the plan until they have enough to bring down the rest of the family.
Johnny Conway - Seagate traitor (either)
Frugal, persuasive, sociable, political
A few years ago, Gary Seagate (part of the Traditional family), was killed by a traitorous action of the Conway family, subservient to the Seagates. The Seagate retaliation was swift and violent. Only those deemed young and innocent were left alive. The Conways found a new home in the Ragtag family, and Johnny is the unwanted leader of them, inheriting a guilt they didn’t cause and one they can’t repay. Johnny wants to become the new head of the Renz family to show that they are powerful enough, or make sure that the Renz’s form an alliance with the Goddaerts. Because Conway thinks that Seagate would never allow a new alliance with the Conway family, or will they?
River Grozny - Goddaert traitor (either)
Fun-loving, flexible, methodical
The Goddaert family turned out to take everything way too seriously including treason. River tried to take the profits of a heist for themselves and so betrayed the Goddaerts. The only way out was to seek an alliance with another family, and since the Renz’s and their unofficial alliance were always looking for new support, they were the best place to hide, at the cost of most of the profits that River stole. The rest of the Grozny family didn’t follow, so River was on their own. They don’t know what the rest of their family needed to do to get back into the good graces of the Goddaerts. So River thinks that the best way out is to become the new leader of the Renz’s or to form an alliance with the Seagates. Or maybe try to mend things with the Goddaerts?
Kit Rabal - Advisor to the head of the Renz family (either)
Loyal, passionate, intelligent, modern
The Rabal family promised to support and be part of the Renz’s alliance long ago, as one of the first families to do so. Kit has been loyal to the official head of the Renz family, and supported them with advice. In the past this was Pat, now it is Murphy according to Kit. They see Tony as the unlawful usurper and do provide advice but are waiting for Pat to return or Murphy to take over. They are still in contact with Pat, and are the only one to know where they are and what they want. Kit wants to use this weekend to solidify the Renz family’s power, either by making sure that Pat can return or Murphy can take over.
Dusty Ariel - Employee to the family (either)
Patient, logical, honest, faithful
Long ago, Pat Renz did a noble thing and saved Dusty’s life. Dusty promised to support Pat, and Pat (mis)used that promise as much as they could. Pat made Dusty do things that disgusted them and they would be happy to leave all of that behind. And this event seems to be the right moment. Pat is no longer part of the family, they disappeared and there are no signs that they will come back. So Dusty is now free to do whatever they want, and they are determined to make an honest living. They plan on leaving, except that they don’t want to leave without Echo Caliban since they swore they would take them with them when they leave and they are bound by their promise.
Echo Caliban - Involuntary part of the family (either)
Dishonest, stoic, insightful, tough
When Echo was young, they were trafficked across Europe, hoping for a better life but Echo was forced into the prostitution part of the Renz family business. After getting too old, they were transferred to serve the family as an administrative assistant. Echo is disgusted by the Renz’s and everything they stand for. But they do what they do because they feel they have no other choice, since they know no other way of living. And it is better than it was. Dusty once promised they would help Echo escape but so far didn’t deliver. So if Echo gets a reasonable offer, they will betray the Renz family. They are happy to be at the wedding because this might give them a chance to do so.
Ari Toor - The executioner for the family (either)
Ambitious, relentless, invisible, loyal
Ari is scum, the person you don’t want to meet in the dark on the street. Ari is the go-to if the real dark things need to be done. Human trafficking, forced prostitution, the things nobody wants to talk about but bring in the most money and are part of the family business. But Ari wants to have it out in the open, they want to be acknowledged for the work they do, because they want people to be forced to accept what they are doing. To Ari, the other families are a bunch of hypocrites and they want to use this meeting with the families to settle the score.
Leslie Fernando - Enforcer for the family (either)
Scared, dutiful, adaptable, capable
Leslie doesn’t know how they got here, and doesn't know how to get out. They are the enforcer part of the family and do the dirty work like human trafficking and cleaning up after dog fights, but are disgusted by it and would want to get out. At the same time, the family has so much dirt on them that they have no way of escaping them. Leslie has no other way of making a living. The only way to get out of this line of work is death or betrayal. They can use this meeting to form alliances or seek out other options, while trying to keep face and do the work that is expected. They may not be able to leave this job, but might get some choice over what dirt they do.
Navy King - The movie director (either)
Charming, creative, romantic, dreamy
Navy is the partner of Tony Renz and sibling to Xenith King. Navy lives in a fantasy world, they make the adult movies and imagine that everybody wants to be there, it’s voluntary and everybody is happy. If somebody is angry or crying, it’s because they are acting obviously. Somewhere deep inside they know this isn’t how the family business works but they just hope it is different. As Tony’s partner, they should know that it’s not different. They are joining this weekend to record the wedding, to be the personal assistant and do the administration, but this will just be like another movie script, it’s not real. Or maybe they will finally see how things are.
Xenith King - The Sibling (either)
Ambitious, ruthless, unhinged
Xenith was introduced to the Renz family by their sibling Navy. They started out as their assistant but have been way more interested in climbing the family ladder. They want to move up in the world, want to become someone important and the way to do that is be more ruthless and more ambitious than the current leaders of the family. They are here to prove themselves and want to take over the family if they can, to make them bigger and better than they are today. Xenith sees their relationship to the Renz family as symbiotic. In a parasitic way. Right now, they need Renz to grow and flourish. Eventually they will overgrow and suffocate their host.
Ollie Plume - Hench of the family (either)
Cultured, efficient, optimistic
Ollie would just do this dumb goon work for a couple of years, cash in and use the money to start a B&B in the countryside. It has been somewhat longer than expected, but it was ok because they worked together with their sibling West. They were talked into this gig by their older sibling, who died during the recent raids by the hand of one of the other families. So now Ollie changed their plans, they want revenge and will do anything to get it. They don’t care about the politics or the warning from Tony that this event is to be used to solidify the bonds and not a time for revenge, they are here to find out who killed their sibling and take revenge by sabotaging their life. There are worse fates than death and Ollie will try to inflict them all.
Vivienne “Yvette Noir” Dechamps
Arrogant, reckless, romantic, go-getter
Vivienne changed her name to Yvette when she was younger to work as a stripper and not have to use her own name. Yvette used to indirectly work for the Seagates, as a stripper at Ruby’s strip club. She got along with Ruby, and was considered one of Ruby’s trusted advisors. Unfortunately, that made Yvette too arrogant and she tried to take over the club by proposing a better deal to the Seagates. Ruby heard what happened, didn’t like it so she fired Yvette and made sure she couldn’t find any new work. She was out of a job and so was broke and had no place to live anymore. Vivienne was picked up from the street by Murphy Renz, son of Pat and one of Pat’s lieutenants. Murphy liked her and trusted her, and saw potential so gave her work as one of their enforcers. Again, she made the same mistake. When Pat disappeared she tried to take over part of Pat’s role as head of the family but was shut down fast by Murphy. She’s kept on a tight lease by Murphy, so she wants to use this weekend to get back some control.
